It happens. Best to just try to learn any lessons you can and move on, like it sounds like you've done. Sucks but like they say, if you hunt long enough it happens to us all.

yep i had the same thing happen friday night
had the easiest shot of my life about 12yards broadside. got cought up in the moment and put it right in the shoulder im guessing only an inch or 2 penetration. did not find a spec of blood or the arrow. just hoping the deer survived. just a doe but still made me extremely mad at myself. been getting pics for months and passing on her since season started same time same spot and held back until the temperatures dropped. just hope she survives. just like you i had thoughts that said if i screwed that up i might as well not get back out there. o well stuff happens good luck rest of the season
