RE: 20 gauge ammunition
Top, what types of ballpark ranges do you expect to shoot your deer at? I would expect the buckhammer to be a shorter range round, say within 100 yards, just due to the design and mass. Anyone else feel free to add your 2 cents, I have never hunted with the buckhammers. Out here in Idaho, I have tended to take quite a few shots at whitetails beyond 100 yards.

hey i know a 20 gauge is weak, and i was wondering what you guys could reccomend for the best ammunition in terms of accuracy and power, money is not a issue in this case. it is a 20 gauge rifle barrel. thanks.

20Ga. + rifled slug barrell + scope (optional) = 1 sweet deer weapon AND venison in the freezer.

I have a H&R Ultra Slugger and use Lightfields. They will shoot a one hole group at 50 yards. I feel comfortable out to 150 yards with this gun. don't think I would ever have to take over a 100 yard shot where I hunt though.

20 Ga. Weak? no way My hunting partner took his Rem. 20 ga. 1100 and added a rifled barrel, scope, and shoots the new Remington ULTRA sabots.Look em' up they have better than balistics than a 30/30 at 100 yds. His 12 stays home, he said his 20 is as accurate at 100yds as anything he has found and it doesn't have the recoil a 12 does. Deerhunter 515 referenced these slugs.... 385 grains-1,900 fps at the muzzle.
