RE: scary hunting stories
I got two stories:
I was about ten years old and i was hunting the corner of a big field. It was just about dark and all the sudden i hear something walking up the hill beside me. Of course, the first thing i think about is a big buck walking to the field. But as it got closer and closer, it just seemed to be to loud for a buck, it almost sounded like a person walking through the leaves. I mean i've heard big bucks walk through leaves but this was to loud and too fast. Anyways, whatever it is keeps walking right towards where my stand is, im talking right towards me. By this time its dark enough that its hard to see into the woods, then all the sudden i look at the edge of the field and i see a light walking down the edge of the field, its my dad coming to get me. But the thing is, whatever is walking up the hill besides me is still coming. So i get on the radio and try and tell him to stop so i could see who or what this is coming, he never heard me. The noise coming up the hill gets within 40-50 yards i assume and stops, i guess because it see's the light. i dont move or anything cause i want to hear if it runs off......it doesnt. My dad gets to the base of the tree and i tell him to flash his light around there to see if anythings there, we dont see anything. I didnt hear anything run off, and if somethings going to walk up a hill as loud as it was, you'd think it would have run off just as loud.....i never found out what it was.... When i think about what it could have been i really dont think it was a person because we own the land and where the noise was coming from its all woods and no one walks up or through that gullie. I guess maybe just a big buck who was being careless, but why didnt he run away? maybe it was big foot?
Second story is from this past season. It was still dark in the morning and i had just talked down a gravel road to the bottom of the hill, and i have to cross a creek. I cross the creek and start walking through some tall grass, when i hear something running towards me. I freeze and my heart starts pounding, its coming towards me. Stupidly, my flashlights in my backpack. I hear it crashing through leaves and sticks as it gets closer, it stops 20 yards away. Where i'm hunting is middle tennessee so i know theres no bear or bobcats where i am, maybe coyotes. I stops 20 yards from where i am and all i hear is it breathing in deeply and outhard and real slow, for the 2-3 seconds i sat there it seemed like that was all i could hear. I pulled my gun off my shoulder and shot 2 rounds way above its back, making sure i didnt hit whatever it was. It ran off. Needless to say, i practically ran too my stand that morning!

RE: scary hunting stories
My cousin and I are tracking a buck that I shot around first dark one evening. He's got his 12 gauge shotgunin case a follow-up shot is needed. We cross a creek and around this time it's pitch black and both flashlights are dimming. All of a sudden we hear a gun go off right next to us. I jump on the ground and cover my head, he's looking around, I'm yelling HEY...HEY...HEY. He looks back at me on the ground and says, "Man you didn't see that big snake right there on the ground?" I'm like what snake, "its pitch black dark out here how could you possibly have seen a snake?" I thought somebody was shooting at us. About a month later he confessed. This idiot forgot to put his gun on safety and has one in the chamber. He accidentally pulled the trigger and the shotgun went off. Needless to say, I won't be hunting with him anymore, he could have killed one of us. It's funny now but man was I heated.

RE: scary hunting stories
lol, i got one also. i was hunting sika deer on the eastern shore, MD, with my uncle. after the evening hunt, my uncle told me to get out of my stand at a certain time and start walking down this trail to where it intercepts another trail, which was where his stand was. he told me he would meet me there. so i get down, and it is pitch black. with my flashlight in hand, i start walking to our meeting place. about 100 yards into my walk my uncle jumps out behind a tree and scares the live out of me. i dont think i have ever jumped so high with such a girlie-man look on my face lol. he started laughing so hard he had to sit down. needless to say, that was the talk of the night lol. looking back now, i can see how funny it was to him lol, but at the time, i could have killed him lol. i was hunting with a bow and luckily i didnt have a arrow knocked or i would probably have stabbed him lol. that was one of the scariest 2-3 seconds ever, i was so happy to see it was only him lol.
