. Poaching is poaching no matter how you look at it.
No doubt! We have a new employee at work. When he found out I'm a hunter he started telling me about all the turkeys he has killed last season. I asked what states he hunted besides Tx. His reply was that he got them all on his Tx. lease. You get 4 tags per year in Tx. I told him he was a poacher. He got PO'd. I then told him I'll call Operation Game Thief if I ever hear another word about his illegal activities again. I guess he expected me to congratulate him on his hunting prowess. What a jerk ***!

Who is ****ed up enough to be buying their kills. They should be hung by their nuts as so should the poachers.
There is no end to the number of slobs who will buy the mounts to put on their den/office wall and brag about the "big hunt" and the skill of the hunter to make the glorious kill - because they can't really do it but can afford to buy it.

I never thought poaching would happen in my area....till about 6 years ago we found a massive body in our woods that had its head chopped off below the chin. They eventually caught the guy and got him on weapons charges instead of poaching. I never did get to see the rack from the buck.
Whoa! Now that's naive! Wanna buy my bridge in Brooklyn?

Let me give all you fellow Illinois guys a little TIP to report poachers....

1-877-2DN-RLAW is the number to call.

Here is a link to a reporting page.

http://dnr.state.il.us/law3/poach.htm

I urge others to help out by posting their homestates reporting info.

I hear you. Had a guy come over to our house to do some work. Hired him on recommendation of friend. He noticed one of my ladder stands on the way into our property and he mentioned that my land was so private that I should get a hold of various baits this fall and put them out and that no one would ever know. That's what he was going to do. Okay, putting out any sort of corn, apples, sugar beets, etc. is illegal in MN. Salt, scents, minerals, etc. are okay. Rule of thumb is nothing with food. Anywhoo, I'm not trying to start a "bait debate" so let's not. I'm just saying that if baiting is illegal, then I view that just as bad as shooting an animal out of season or over your tag limits, etc. But if baiting is legal and you do it, more power to you. Follow the law and everyone wins.

Right now in ohio the state is discussing this and are trying to change the fine from $400 a deer to market value so poachers that kill bucks will havepay upwards of $15,000 ifits a real big buck. But the only problem is unless they make the fines manditory, the judges may reduce or wave them. In this state we have some local judges that feel game laws are a nusance item in there court so they dismiss most of the offendersunless it's pretty blantant disreguard for the law.

The group I go to Colorado with has actually had some Bulls taken away from them by poachers. I just don't understand it.

That sort of increases the appeal of an AK as a hunting weapon, doesn't it?
