I'll probably be in Minnesota, but same type of plans!

Buy up as much good deer and pheasant land as I can get my hands on while my kids are young so they have plenty of land to hunt once they're old enough!

After 4 years of college, 4 years of med school, minimum 3 years of residency and then 5-10 years of service to our country, I think I will have earned the right to hoard a little land for myself and the fruits of my loins

If you get bored on your part of IL, maybe we can swap hunts, I come to IL for a trophy buck and you come to MN for some pheasant hunting!

BTW, just watched the SNL in the 90's show and I just want to know how I can get back on the right track so I don't end up living in a van down by the river[:'(]

Use that paper to write prescriptions instead of rolling doobies.[8D]

I heard that the day he passes the bar, North Texan, like all new lawyers, will be given a Cadillac, a smoking hot blonde trophy wife, and lifetime membership in a 100,000 acre hunting preserve whos clientele is restricted to doctors and lawyers. Don't let him tell you otherwise.

Come now, we all know lawyers drive Audi's not caddy's.

Besides, leave my dad's high-fence preserve out of this! The whole preserve is 100,000 acres, the hunting acre is less than an acre with no trees.

5-10 years service to our country, how do you not know how many years you served or will serve? i am in the military and have served five and will serve eight, its known as a contract. i suppose my service in OIF III on the sand i might add, not water, (of course not diminishing anyone's service, simply comparison) means that i DESERVE to be anjerk and puff my chest to as many people as I can while supporting my exponentially growing ego, i think not, it is called being down to earth, and unfortunately, you, my man are not. you have all the right to purchase property, thats great, but it isn't becoming of you and your cohorts to degrade those who are struggling to afford to lease, let alone purchase a piece of property.

Thanks for all the comments on this thread, more than verified my thoughts on this topic- the future of our hunting heritage for the middle class folk is looking less than promising, so buy land or go broke trying!

You know, middle class families could try moving up. It happens a lot, but only to those who know what they want, know their strengths and weaknesses, and are willing to work hard for years to see it pay off. I'd recommend taking that route rather than pouting and talking yourself into losing any hope of betterment.

Good pep talk Aught 6. But, that would take a lot of effort. Much more than the traditional route of acquiring land the old fashioned way; thru inheritance.

That's what happens when people ship mom and dad off to the nursing home instead of taking care of them and getting the house and property later on.

But seriously, it just rubs me raw that people who are content not to try 100% at everything are equally content to complain and make excuses for themselves as to why they've been unfairly treated in life. Most people start out in adulthood with jack squat. I moved out a few days before I turned 18, got acouple grand for college, and my mom helped me pay the mortgage a few times, but the rest of it came from my paycheck. I set my sights high and get through the BS to reach my destination. Then I pick my next one and keep on.

It eventually starts leading to a more comfortable existence, and ability to help those close to you when they need it. If I want something, I'm not going to whine about it--I'm going to get out of here and go get it. There is plenty of cheap land out there. It might not be in you backyard, but such is life.

As soon as I cash in on the smoking hot blonde trophy wife, you won't be seeing much of me around here anymore.[8D]

Not those that pass the Texas bar. We get caddies el dorados, complete with genuine leather seats and steer horns on the front.
