If you want a cheap version of C-mere Deer, try this: Get a bottle of the cheapest table syrup you can find. Mix the syrup with warm water. I used a pint of syrup ina gallon milk jug. You can pour this over corn just like the C-mere Deer commercials do and it works the same. Deer love it! If you have paid $50 a gallon for C'mere Deer, you'll like this at 50 cents a gallon. If you have any C'mere Deer on hand, give it a sniff, it smells just like diluted table syrup. They might use cane syrup which is sweeter but not worth $50 a gallon!!

Your idea definantely works i have done that but i also added a lil bit of everything else sweet that i could find in my shelves and mixed it all together in a jug like yourself! I actually poured it in a small hole in the ground and they tore it up!

The only problem i see with this is that theres really not much nutritional value the deer will get out of it other than being just a sweet treat. But iI have made similar items, Molasses, Syrup, Brown Sugar, Water, & Cow Salt. I use this mixzture over old stumps, deer will eat the stump till theres nothing left and then start digging.
