RE: Do you practice Quality Deer Management???
Attended at least 4-5 QDM meetings over recent years.4th year as QDMA member.
QDMA on a National or Regional level does not nor have I ever heard the words spoken by any of the top people that "QDM" is primarily for the purpose of growing "trophy bucks".I've never heard it spoken that all/most does should be culled for the sake of trophy bucks.
Its not for every one or every property.
I do recall those words spoken at the outset of every single QDMA meeting I've ever attended.
I hunt private 200a. Adjacent farm is 600a.We both practice QDM.Our next neighbor is a large WMA and then a private conservancy(sp). We know we have 800 acres in QDM. The remaining 800-1000+- acres of adjacent WMA and conservancy is not going to get shot out by a couple dozen hunters.
Bottom Line is - If you have a property that is large enough or at least couple adjacent properties that will practice QDM or have a low harvest due to acess QDM can be the best thing going for a well balanced healthy Herd in addition to Better Bucks.
The excuse it ain't never gonna work cuz my neighbors don't do this and QDM says this and they only grow/hunt for horns and yauda - yauda - bla - bla... doesn't always wash.It can and does work.
