Total for all states in the U.S.15,043 2,576 17,619
After reading the article numerous timessince publication no matteralmost where you hunt it is difficult to get a trophy. Yes private does help a tiny bit but still difficult. I somehow became one of the lucky ones and hit the lottery this past Nov.
So if I have added that right there are 5486000 hunters in those 10 states ...and 2576 B&C bucks harvested ...so you have about a .5% chance ofharvesting a B&C buck in the BEST of circumstance ..the BEST of states ....wow sure makes me appreciate thebuck I took in Alberta and the 140 10pt I took in Tennessee ...

I don't even think that you have that much of a chance at getting a B&C buck in the best of circumstances.

PEAKRUT, I determined the best states by taking the number of book bucks listed, divided by approx. how many hunters hunt each year in that state and your chances aren't even .5%, in the states as a whole. But those averages are skewed in area's which QDM is practiced, crops, mineral content in soils, and genetics.

There are no more big bucks in Illinois. They all migrated to Iowa. All we have here are scrapheads and does.

I have only second hand information that was told to me about this buck.
My Taxidermist told me that This buck in question is the one the man that shot it brought it by my taxidermest shop........ my taxidermist said yes it was still in velvet...... he is not the one mounting it though.
I spoke to a friend of mine a few days ago and she told me she has seen the buck here self and that it was awesome...... a friend of her husband shot it in Vermillion County Illinois and he told her husband that he will have the buck at the Illinois Deer & Turkey Classic........ she said it was taken supposedly on private land that borders Illinois Public hunting Land... Kickapoo State Park.
Hope to see it at the Classic.

I can't believe there are no photos of a deer that size. Maybe when it goes on display?
