Just a quick question. What would happen to your state's Fish and game Dept. if no out of state hunters bought a license for one year. I post this as Maine is planning another license hike.
My own state of Mass. I don't think it would affect as we don't have many non-resident hunters.

I am not sure, but would guess that Minnesota would likely raise prices for resident tags. I do not know how many out of staters Minnesota attracts for hunting? I would not even have a guess.

I think I would have to agree with Red Lion. I know there are a few hunters around my area from wisconsin. I think they would hike the price a little for the residents, a non resident firearms tag is $135 that's quite a bit higher than my resident tag. You wouldn't have to sell many non res. tags to get some nice income.

I don't know what it would do to our state economy, or game and fish division. But because out of state folks come in an pay extremely high prices to lease hunting land in GA, it has caused us locals a lot of problems. If completely stoping them was possible, I would agree, even if I had to pay more for a hunting/fishing license.

Dog1,

Funny how that works since a contingent of Georgia folks recently ended up buying land near my parents place in Illinois for deer hunting. Nice folks, though. Also funny that now when i go home to Illinois for hunting season, I often end up parking my car with its Ohio plates next to my buddys' trucks that have "Ban Out-of-State Hunters" bumper stickers on them. Wild.

Why would you want to stop them? Out of state hunters bring in a lot of revenue for the local economy. It's not like they are coming in and taking over your private land. Even if they are not a resident they have just as much right to hunt as you do. They will just have to pay a little more, which means even more revenue. I guess I can say this because not too many out of staters come to Louisiana to deer or turkey hunt. Duck hunting is a different issue, but it's perfectly fine. I hunt deer hunt exclusively on my land, but I go to Tennessee every year for a week or two to turkey hunt. I would hate for someone to say we don't want you out of stater hunting here.

The argument made by some is that out-of-staters come in and drive land prices up by making land sales and leasing more competitive. You often get that from folks who don't own land, but hunted certain spots for years only to lose them when someone bought or leased them. Land prices have skyrocketed in my area, but i think that out-of-staters are a convenient scapegoat.

My friend told me him and his son were hunting in ohio as nores. the young hunter shot a doe and took it to the check station .A fellow walked by the young hunter and said why don't you stay in your own state and hunt .He didn't know what to say .I like to think we live in the UNITED states.

Not possible in Illinois!! The state raised the price this year, will go up agin next year and still the tags are selling. I think right now the price for out-state hunters is around (if not more) 500.00 for tags/license.

The out-of-state non-res license is 50+ bucks in Illinois. Then the non-res archery permit is over 300. I think the gun permit is somewhere around 200 or more. The state has got to be raking the money in hand over fist.
