Ky....So a resident that doesn't own land should have rights that overseed a non-res that owns land???
Yes. If they want the rights of the resident then they should move there. Most hunter don't own land. Does that mean theyshould besecond class citizens in their own state ?

I said I have no problems with non residents hunting other states but there just needs to be a limit thats all. If that pisses you off then so be it. You can read what ever you want into that.

Kentucky now has a limited elk hunt. Should it be up for grabs to everyone or should the citizens of this state get first shot?

We have a limited amount of resources in any state and the residents should come first in any of those states.

We can kill one buck a year here. We don't get the chance to kill a buck a day or multiple bucks like many other state. Because of this we are now a good trophy state. A non resident come in now after the residents of this state have made the sacrafices and reap the rewards and thats fine as long as they pay the price and in limited numbers.

I dont want to come first in your state and I dont want you to come first in mine. Plane and simple. I want the chance to hunt your state if I want but I don't expect to be put in front of the line before you.

Wow, that's a lot of greenbacks for a state with a relatively small population!

The surprising thing is that here in Iowa, an out of state hunting license is only $63 more than in-state.

However if you want an any sex deer permit you're looking at $221.50 vs $27 for an in-stater. These prices include the General license and the habitat fee.

For as much as Iowa is thought of as a Mecca for trophy bucks, you'd think they'd charge more!

Also keep in mind a lot of the money that states take in from out-of-state hunters, like my $100 to pheasant hunt in MN, goes directly towards programs like CRP and toward the purchase of more public hunting lands, so local hunters benefit immensely!
They changed the laws again.Non residents must now buy a antlerless only license on top of thier either sex license. The price breaks down something like this,

6000 tags available

Either sex+antlerless tags=$323.00
Paid hunting license(over 18 yrs old)=80.50
Habiat stamp=8.50

Total cost to hunt buck deer in Iowa= $ 412.00

3500 antlerless only licenses(if they sell them all)
Antlerless tag=$151.50
Paid hunting=80.50
Habitat stamp=8.50

Total cost for doe only= $240.50 per deer

Then they have an additional holiday antlerless only season where the tags are $51.50 a piece.Dont really know how that works or how many are sold but all together theyd be about another $130.00 by the time you have all your licenses you need.

Figure in food, gas, lodging, hunting equipment bought while here, and misc. expenses and deer hunters alone bring millions of dollars into the state every year even after they paid for thier licenses.Im betting non resident pheasant hunters spend even more while theyre herebecause theres a lot more of them that come.Im in a small town here in NW Iowa but I bet opening weekend of pheasant season alone theres gotta be at least $20,000 spent here in town in the gas station, local restuarants, and bars by out of state hunters.

Maybe this will finally put it to rest. If the non-resident buys a hunting license and all the associated tags they have the SAME rights and privilegesto hunt state game lands as the resident. If they own land in said state you argument is completely blown out of the water and you don't have squat to say. Now I'm done with this thread.

I agree totally with your first statement. I've only said that there should be a limit on the number of non residents.

I'm not sure what your trying to say after that however. I think your saying that a non resident land owner is the same as a resident. If thats the case your wrong. Even if they own land they must still buy non resident tags to hunt here.A non resident is a non resident....owning land makes no difference.
