RE: deers 5 senses ( which one is the best)
Its not there nose, mainly because I have had friends that go out hunting right after filling there truck up and spilling gas on there shoes and then having deer walk by them all night. But there Vision if something looks just slightly off they will stare at it FOR A COUPLE HOURS before just walking off.

Smell is their best sense by far. Just think about how many deer you have never seen just because they winded you before they saw you and moved around you out of site before you could see them. Sixth Sense is second they can usually tell if somethings been disturbed or is amissin their territory.

No cover scent and blowing cigarette smoke out the window at them and it doesnt seem to bother them.
This isn't a true test of the Whitetails ability to smell danger. Although I don't smoke anymore, one of the largest Whitetails I've evr encountered was while Squirrell hunting and I was smoking a cigarrette. He came with 15 yards. He didn't ever smell cigarrette smoke before and didn't associte it with danger. However their vision and hearing are superb as well.

I voted for smell.
You can beat thier eyes with patience.
You can beat thier hearing with patience.
I have never seen taste or feeling have a bearing.
You can fool thier noses with scents and such, but it is not as easy as waiting out thier eyes and ears.
My Opinion.

Smell...anyone who thinks different doesn't know what they are talking about.

Ditto!
I had 8 deer (all does) within 40 feet of me this past week (3 on the ground). They looked right at me and hung around until they ALL got down-wind of me. Then they were gone. One came in behind me and I just happened to be looking around to see her. Never heard a step. She got to about 20 feet from my tree, bent to sniff a footprint in the snow at least 2 days old, turned and walked away in the complete opposite direction. I never would have known she was there if I didn't see her.

I have to vote for smell. I believe you can fool a deers eyes. I have had deer stare me down and not spook. You can use calls to lure deer in so you can fool their ears.
I have never been in a situation where you can fool their sense of smell. You can use all the cover scents you want but if they smell the "human" scent they are gone.

#1 Smell, BY FAR!!!!
#2 Hearing
#3 Sight
Generally when a deer hears or sees you, he waits till another sense confirms his suspicions. But if he smells human or anything he associates with humans, he's gone!
