Hey Tiger fan,Have an awesome place to hunt in Nebraska. Harlan County Resevoir. It is army corp of engineers land. there's some 32,000 acres with a lot of woods and a lot of crops. (corn, soybean, alfala, etc.) I bow hunt there the last two years and see 30 deer/day.You'll see a bunch of bucks in the 120's, and some over. I shot an old 6 pt this year that netted 141 3/8. My brother just went there a week or so ago and shot a 10 pt (150 class) with his bow during their gun season. I have never seen another hunter during the archery season. It is also home to a ton of Merriam Turkeys. I've filled both my tags in two days. A great place to stay is Sportsman's Apartments in Republican City. Leon has apartments with kitchens, a cleaning room and freezers. He'll also tell you what the deer are doing. Great guy!

I live here in Texas, and I hear hunting out that way is way different. My buddy just got back from Kansas, he hunted 6000 acre private ranched that was completely fenced. He said there were hunters slash tresspassers everywhere and they even tried to steal a buck he had killed. He said it was the craziest thing he has ever seen. He told the rancher and he just laghed. He actually didnt even mind. My friend said that for those 10 days everyone and their grandma go into the woods, any woods they dont care. Pretty scary he said, he was afraid of being shot.
For you guys that live in Kansas, is that the way it is out there ?

We hunt all over the country and have never found it overly difficult to get on private ground without paying. My advise would be to show up a couple days early and work hard talking to the locals.
Do not trepass! Nobody has any respect for those pricks.

SE Kansas has plenty of relatively low-pressured public hunting ground, especially the public land around the strip pits near Columbus. A buddy of mine missed a 160 class 12 point there a few weeks ago with his bow. He said he has bumped into a few people, but few and far between. Just about anywhere in KS you are liable to run across a trophy buck, public or private land...you just have to be willing to pay the price.
