World Record for Smallest Deer?

RE: World Record for Smallest Deer?
I got this little guy with my muzzleloader. He was too small to even have buttons. Didn't weigh him but he was small.
He might have had a tough time making it through winter. He was by himself. I probably should have passed but it was my last day I could hunt during PA's early muzzleloader and I figured putting my tag on it was better than a coyote taking him or him not making it through winter.
I know most guys consider this a waste of a tag. Not me. These small deer are much better eating even if you only get a little meat. My daughter and son also have tags, so there should be enough meat to fill the freezer.

A little off topic because this is not a whitetail. But, talk about gullible hunters lol. We had a guy here a couple years ago who thought he had shot a "jackelope."
No I am not kidding....he honestly thought the "mythical" creature existslol. He had shot a muntjac instead.
We dressed it out for a total of 9 lbs.
did it look like this?
best of luck

i dont consider it a waste of a tag, most people only shoot the little ones for that reason, infact i know guys that would rather shoot that than any buck, for the taste.

I think I may have set a new record yesterday. The law in Md is that you must kill two antlerless deer before you can shoot a second buck. With that in mind I decided to put the first two antlerless deer I saw in my freezer and then get serious about hunting horns. I spotted a young deer at about 100 yards and took her down. At the shot a second one jumped up and ran about 50 yards before stopping to look back. I only had seconds to put the cross hairs on her and drop the hammer. The 25-06 barked and she was done.
When I got up to her I could not believe how small she was. After field dressing she only weighed 28 pounds. Yes, you read it right, on November 25 she still was only 28 pounds. I noticed, when I was field dressing her, that her liver was about half the normal size, off color and of a wierd texture. When I mentioned this to my wife, a veterinarian, she said that it probably had a liver shunt which kept if from developing and would likely not have survived the winter.
I am very happy with the off hand shot that took out such a small target at 150 yards, and I am glad that the little thing won't suffer through the winter, but I will never forget my shock and surprise when I walked up on her and saw her diminutive size. Has anyone ever killed a deer so small this far into the season?

I saw a runt in the archery season. First came the doe and a reg fewn and then out came a little guy...... noticabley smaller. This was the first time for me to see one. I had no shot at it and I wouldn't have taken it anyways. I don't even like to shoot reg fawns...... not enough meat and really only good for stir-fry.

Close....but the rack is too big lol. Here is what a muntjac looks like. I have looked for a pic of the one I talked about aboveand can't find it. I got this one off the net. In some places here in south TX they are pretty thick...our population is pretty small! We see maybe two per year around here.
best of luck

Those muntjacs look so small I could kill 'em with one shot with a .22LR.
There is this place in San Antonio, it's called the "Buckhorn", they got a 180 point buck, which is probably fake, and a jackrabbit that looked like it was a "button jack", but they said that it had gotten it's head stuck in a wooden trap of some sort, but it got free with the wood still in it, and that it eventually became a part of the rabbit, and they considered removing the "horns" out, but if they did it would probably die.
That pic of the fawn and Windwalker looks pretty sad, such a cute little deer(I slap myself, 'cause I sound like a girl.).
I don't think I'll ever be able to kill a fawn, unless it was in the same situation Windwalker was in, with the fawn being alone and all.
