Glad you did everything right and walked away to tell us about it. What gun/load were you shooting?

Wow, what a day Zeus!! Good to know you came out of that one safely. If they ever send you the pics maybe you can share them on the forums.

In answer to the question of, what type of firearm? I was using a Browning - A-bolt - 30-06 cal. (with BOSS system). Rifle is stainless steel, witrh composite stock. Without any experience shooting, when I 1st got this gun, I was hitting dots right out of the box. I always use 165 grain loads. That's the way the BOSS system has been set up. Plent of knock-down power, with minimal recoil.

I would have gone back for the bear. No sense leaving a nice hide there for coyotes to tear apart. I live over in Ulster co and the black bears are beginning to become more and more aggressive. My neighbors goats were attacked and another neighbor was stalked and circled during bow season. Another 2 hunters were chased into a lake while duck hunting by a large boar

Just to set the record straight, the DEC took the bear with them. As a matter of fact, they dragged it out. Half-way out, they gutted it, to lighten it up. I didn't offer too much assistance, since they weren't gonna let me take him. They took 2 pics after they threw it on the bAck of their truck. Still waiting for those pics! I'll be calling them soon.
