Default blood trail

My neighbor shoot a doe that went on to our property. I helped track the deer we had a nice blood trail to this bean field. We lost the blood trail so starting walking around. We kicked her up and went into a corn field. We decided that let her go till later. We never did find the deer. My neighbor did say he hit her high. Is there any way she could have lived?

Your guess is as good as mine. What she was shot with, angle, how high, how far back, was there bubbles in the blood, etc.

What did the blood look like? Foamy would mean a lung shot. greenish to brown would be a liver or gut shot.
