Deer Hunter Sentenced In Fatal Shooting

RE: Deer Hunter Sentenced In Fatal Shooting
The story said he was drinking heavily the night before, which is another valuable point to keep in mind. Alcohol takes a long time to leave your system. I feel for the family and since the shooter was family I feel for him too. I'm sure the light sentence has more to do with his past record and the fact that the shooting was not malicious. Despite the amount of jail time he gets, he will be sentencedto life in another sense, he alone willhave to live his whole lifewith the fact that he killed his cousin through careless, irresponsible actions. Iimagine thatis a pretty stiff sentence and quite a load to bear.

Always hate to hear of such tragedies. My heart hurts for the family.
Let this be a lesson to all (especially you younger bucks out there!)- it is never a good idea to mix guns with alcohol. It should not ever be looked upon as "just" a deer camp thing. A couple cold ones to celebrate after the day winds down and the weapons are safely and securely put away. But never a couple cold ones and then picking up a weapon.
Do the smart thing and don't hunt with those types. Heck, to me hunting is one of the most incredible highs there is. All the good highs can come w/o drugs or alcohol.

AMEN!!!
In the military, we have a policy. No alcohol 8 hrs prior to shift. This is a good guide line for hunting to, i think.
