Shot placement

RE: Shot placement
I also was influenced my first year hunting that will make me never aim at a deer's head. Opening morning I shot a doe, which was with 3 other does, and when I shot they ran towards the neighbors. I went to get my dad to help me gut, seeing it was first deer and really wouldn't have known what I was doing. Well on our way back to the doe we heard two shots from the neighbors direction, and the 3 does came running back, right under my stand, and within about 20 yards of me and my dad. Two of the does had their jaws hanging off their head. Everything happened so fast that when the does had gotten past us my dad said he wished he woulda shot the does so the idiots could come get their deer. It's given me a strong position on head shots...

Heart/lung area for me - well, lung/shoulder. Hitting shoulder is ideal for making them fall down RIGHT NOW, though you lose a little meat. If it's not a real thick area so I can see which way they run - I'm using blackpowder I'll aim a little lower through ribs, so no meat ruined.
