How many guys have success with mock scrapes?
How successful have they been for you?
How early do you make them? In other words, do you make your mock scrapes before you notice real scrapes or do you make them about the same time?
I was thinking of trying that tactic this year. Any advice would be appreciated.

RE: How many guys have success with mock scrapes?
I've had very limited success with scrapes. My first and only real encounter was a mock scrape I made on a game trail on a Monday morning. I didn't return until Wednesday morning to hunt it and I went in just before light, freshened the scrape. I was putting my climber on the tree when I heard a deer running in. I turned to see a bruiser put his nose on the scrape, look at me and gone.
I make them from time to time and I've seen them kept up by "real" deer but never took an animal over the scrapes.
I try not to waste my money on scents but if I do allow myself to get suckered in, from now on I'll only use buck urine type scents in the scrapes.

I tried one last season I made it right at the start of archery season about 20 yards from my stand on a well used trail.
Hung one of them day time drippers above an overhanging branch and put some buck urine and tarsel gland sent in it.
Never saw a buck come by to check it but I had some does use it , by the start of gun season I took a big doe when she stoped at the scrape.

I think it was a gimic a guy wrote a book about to make enough money so he could go on hunting trips. I've never talked to anyone that had any real success with it.
