Whitetail Revolution
I watch the first two episodes of a new hunting show on the Outdoor Life Network, named "Whitetail Revolution" last night. It was entertaining, but another show about big bucks, if you know what I mean. Anyone else catch it?

I watched parts of it. I'm curious though... I see a lot of posts like yours saying "it's just another show about big bucks". Are you suggesting that you'd be just as entertained by a show where all they do is shoot does?

I sure would be, and furthermore, once again, I would rather see themscouting and showing us the where and why of their stand placement. Not because the outfitter put them there. It seems most shows are of someone going to different outfitters throughout the seasonsetting up where the guide tells them to, well thats not really hunting now is it?

I watched it. I liked the little debates they have in addition to the hunting footage. I do have to admit though that after a while watching deer after deer on these shows bite the dust it gets a little tiresome, but I guess that's what people want to see. I enjoy watching the deer behavior before the shot moreso than watching them hit the ground. Also, most all of these shows give the illusion that killing a big buck is relatively easy. I think we all know how untrue that is, but I think it leads some of the younger hunters to believe that is really is as easy as they imply. They have 30 minutes to grab the viewers' attention and keep it so that they watch the advertising. Thus, they reduce hours and hours that they spend on stand to come up with a few minutes of footage people will want to watch.....and the climax of all those hours on stand is a deer hitting the ground.

From what I saw, just a bunch of gun-toting outfitter hunters. And they are supposed to be "some of the best hunters in North America". Just another product driven show. Editing and footage were very good though!

Yep, no arguement here. I wish they'd do "The Larry Benoit Show" so folks could get to know a true woodsman and deer hunter. No guides, no private hunting leases, no food plots, etc. The real deal.......

Ditto. Why not do some shows about stand placement, scouting, planting food plots, using mineral attractants where legal, etc.? You could still do the typical big buck hunt scene but the whole show doesn't have to be about that. I for one would like to learn more about how to create that habitat a big buck will frequently visit. I don't have the $2,000 to $3,000 to spend on a whitetail hunt with an outfitter on a ranch. Maybe the ranch could show us what they do to grow the bucks big and keep them there. I'd find that a lot more interesting!
