I asked a guy at a Gander Mtn store in Ft Wayne about putting orange on the top of the blind and he looked at me like I had two heads. A stand-only kind of guy I guess.

I did check out that website. I will definitely read up more on the different place, tactics, etc.

I'm set up to do some hunting in Wisconsin with by brother-in-law for their opening weekend. Absolutely nuts up there in them North woods! 1/2 million hunters! Holy cow.

Jaymac,
some outstanding advice here from everyone.
I hunt public land most of the time also. The ground blind is very effective once you learn how to brush it in.
Topping the ground blind with hunter orange is a exactly what you want to do. This is both for safety reasons and so someone can tell that they are walking up onto your area.
If your blind does not have a top use several hunter orangehats on the 4 corners

Someadvice on private land hunting:
1. ALWAYS respect their land. play by their rules and keep it better than you left it.
2. Offer to bring him/her meat.
3. I always write a thank you letter at the end of the season with vivid descriptions of the great timesI had on their land with my family.

OK, so I'm not crazy in thinking adding orange to a ground blind would be a smart idea.

I read somewhere that the county I live in, Hamilton Co, Indiana, has a law prohibiting display of carcass. Does this include transporting to the butcher/processor? How do you get around that? Am I to literally put the deer in the trunk if I don't have a truck with a topper on it?
