RE: what to use in sept bowhunting
I will rattle lightly, no banging or agressive noise, just touch the tines lightly like two buck are feeling each other out. This will often bring in a curious buck to look things over. I use no calls in the early season.

RE: what to use in sept bowhunting
I shot a nice P&Y buck on the first day of Ohio bow season in 2001 (October 7). He came in at an angle from left to right and was past me and was headed to the alfalfa field for the evening. He was too far to shoot and was behind some thick stuff so I got out my grunt call and gave 3 soft grunts. He laid his ears back, did a 180 turnand came straight in to 20 yards. From that day on I always have my grunt call from the first day of the season on.
