Dragging the deer out

RE: Dragging the deer out
If there's no snow on the ground, me and my dad have a homemade cart. This works good because we hunt off an old road, so it's usually just a short drag to the road. When there's snow of the ground, I either just use a rope, or if I have the "luxury", I use a cheap plastic tobagon that are like $5 at Wally World.

i bought one of them harness drags, it folds up nice and comes with rope, i just take a rope and tie the deers back legs to its stomache and front lefs around the neck and just put that harness on and start gruntin up on through the woods, once u get movin and get the deer's mass up to speed (im 16 and in oretty good shapeso i can pretty much run with most deer) the harness is the best tool i have for draggin....

rope here, or maybe a small piece of tarp to put it on before dragging, keeps dirt out and makes it slide easier. The first doe I shot, I didn't have a rope with me. Just grabbed a couple legs with one hand and started dragging. It was almost dark when I started dragging. Between my rifle, backpack, deer and the dark, that was one tough drag. Hands wouldn't hardly grip anymore by the time I reached the truck. Don't think that I didn't think about just leaving it in the woods about halfway back to the truck. That's what I get for hunting by myself most of the time back then.

Well when I was younger and stronger I use to drag my deer by the antlers and there where times when I had to put the S O B on my back to carry it across the swamp.
Now that I'm just an old fart and outa shape I gotta use a cart to get my deer out and let me tell ya, it an't easy going across that swamp with a cart.

Challynger,
You said "best non-motorized"
These guys are right if you are doing the dragging, a cart or at least a strap of some kindis the easiest. "NON MOTORIZED"
But my method still qualifies, because it is
Hisname is Jake and he weighs about 1300 lbsand I tiemyrope around the horn and the other end around antlers(or her head) and he hardly even breaths hard!!!
Here's a pic of me and him in Colorado last fall:
