Its pretty hot, humid, and buggy to be sitting there waiting for a coyote to show up for a shot that you may not even make. Like someone else said, trap 'em.

One guy with a rifle isn't going to hurt the population of coyotes. Why someone would want to kill some off, but not all is kind off odd.For every one you see there will be many more you never see, the yote is a very elusive animal. To me the only thing they're good for is something to shoot at.

I don't believe you can shoot a coyote population out.If you read about their biology they will increase their litter size as their population diminishes.Aggressive trapping is going to be the best solution.

I know it won't put a dent in the population, I just think the hunting looks like a blasthardcore, have you had success emulating the Randy Anderson videos?

I think you're right on this one for the most part, but shooting the yotes and trapping them at the same time is pretty doggone effective. There are 3 (I think thats the right number) full time guys hired to kill coyotes in Johnson County here in WYO, and I know they shoot a ton of dogs. In over a month of work in the county, I have seen 2 coyotes- and I'm almost always offroad on an ATV, riding 50+ miles a day. Those guys do a pretty good job of thinning out the coyotes. No way they'll ever all die, though. Just not hardly possible.

Hunt at night when it's legal. I've done afair amount over the years, dawn, dusk, night and I've always had a lot of success at night with a spot light. Some say use a red lens but I've never liked them. I use a combination of electronic rabbit squeals and mouth squeals. And yes, hunting when there's a good snow on the ground usually is pretty productive....a lot of times I'll see them cruising or mousing in wide open fields around 12 to 1pm in the afternoon.

I have always had tremendous success with the foxpro fx3 game call with a jackrabbit in distress call. put it out 50- 60 yards ahead of you play it in 2-3min increments and no more the 15-18mins per stand. key is not to make any sudden movements, stay scent free, and have a good back drop so they don't sneak in behind you. hey but everywhere is differnt so you may have to tweak the system a little.[/align]

Yes. I can usually see a coyote 1 out of every 5-6 setups.
