Ok, I looked sika up b/c I was wondering. Its native to Japan.

They resemble a whitetail but they are not as big, correct?

The Japan sikas are indeed smaller. They are the ones that are in Maryland also. The ones we have I believe are Mongolian sikas. They get as big as a whitetail.

yea they do have them in MD, but just on the eastern shore. i actually shot my first one with a cross bow in Cambridge this past bow season, i shot it with a cross bow. they are extremely small, like a big dog actually. they are harder to kill then whitetails, more elusive. they are actually small elks - really...they bugle and everything. it is an amazing feeling to be sitting in a treestand and hear them "buggglllleeeeE" ur hair on the neck stands straight up. i posted the pic of mine in the bowhunting site, im gonna try to find it and i will post it 2day if i can. but yea, they are in Md but just on the ES, they are extremely fun to hunt, i almost like hunting them as much as whitetails. if u ever get the chance to hunt them, i would take it
