The doe I got last year made a loud wail...ran 40 yards and went down. My buddy was about 75 yards up the field edge from me and heard it. I was glad to see her go down, at first I thought I didn't get a good hit hearing that awful noise she made.

I have heard them coughing or choking on blood before. Also heard a couple of spine shot deer by buddies make sounds, one doe bawled(maybe a scream) it was terrible, second a buck went down and grunted before expiring. All the bear I have shot death moaned. I arrowed a bear it screamed like a pig as it ran away, then stopped looked back at me, feel & then moaned.
The only sounds I have heard at shots were hits or a miss a snort.

Haven't heard them scream. I usually hear a loud "THUMP" once the arrow hits them, and then they turn around, run for about 50 yards and hopefully get to hear a big CRASH!

It true, its a horrible sound. I have heard it when a friend of mine gut shot a deer one time. It layed down on the spot and cried. It was so bad I put another arrow in its head soon after. I dont care to here it agian.

It made the most god alful sound like a sheep makes. I think it was the air comming out it's lungs from the impack. It sure got to me.

There was this one deer that muttered "houston, we have a problem" when it got shot. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>
The 1st deer I ever shot bawled when it went down. I shot it again to stop the noise. Never had any others bawl like that. I have had several make deep grunts upon arrow impact.
