Shed hunter gets fined for harrassment!
This article should raise some awareness about the difficulty of wildlife trying to survive the winter. Shed hunting may seem innocent enough, but remember to keep your movements as unnoticeable to wildlife as possible. We all want to hunt a healthy population this fall.

RE: Shed hunter gets fined for harrassment!
Good Grief! That has to be the dumbest thing that I have ever heard of ion my life.
I wonder if the developers and contractors have to pay hefty fine when they start cutting up the deer's habitat and building houses and putting in roads. I imagine loosing your home for good is pretty stressfull on the deer too.......
Are we really talkign about putting too much "STRESS" on an animal? Can we fine my boss and my wife for putting too much "STRESS" on me?

need to remember that this is in CO and they probably have a ton more snow than most states we hunt in.
I imagine that loosing your habitat is still more stressful than having to hope throughdeep snow.
It just makes no sense to me. I really don't know why I am still talkign about it.

That news doesn't surprise me at all. I have seen the same thing happen here in Idaho. The deer are super stressed during the winter months. Especially if the winter range does not have good feed. Also the animals out here get run a good bit from predators that have followed the migration to the winter grounds. Now we have the new predator on the block. At least new to this century!!!!!!
I am sure that the western guys have seen what the winter grounds look like the following year. There are usually bone piles everywhere. I can see why F&G wants to cut down on stress where they can.

One thing to concider is in the Gunnison valley, the temps. this winter have not gotten above freezing for months now, and the snow is piling up. That place is the coldest in the state during winter! Glad I don't live there. BUT what I don't understand, if you're looking for sheds, why chase or disturb the animals, UNLESS he was trying to make them run and HOPING that the antlers would fall off because of that. Most shed antlers I've seen weren't still attached to the animal!!
