I would say no from the angle the tree is damaged on. Picture where the deer would have to stand to leave that mark, either in the ditch or right where that smaller tree angles off past your gun.
I have saw rubs that big on multiple occasions so it is not impossible to be a rub it just looks to be in an akward position to be one to me.

I would say yes. Too low for a bear scratch and high for a deer but I have seen higher. The tree is large but so are many of the big bucks. Go to Canada or northern Maine and you will see trees rubbed that large. It looks fairly fresh and it was done by something so a deer rub would rate pretty high in my opinion.

Usually, skidders leave a lots of those in an area though!
