RE: Deer and rain?
Outdoorsman,
Rain is a Tonic for the Whitetail Hunter.
Deer tend to be more active just prior to and just after a rain.
During the rain, deer(Whitetails,at least)are less active, but also less cautious. They don't seem to expect any two legged fools to be out in the rain. I am only a moderately effective Hunter, and I have had great success walking up to deer,in the rain.
During the rain, practice your stalking skills, because sitting in the rain can become boreing. As soon as it stops, find a good place to wait. Now,the deer are moving.
good luck,
Frank

RE: Deer and rain?
Well said sooner. Deer could care less about the rain.
They are bothered by heavy rain and wind over 15 mph. In heavy wind I stalk the thickets. The deer are jidery then and they are always moving.
In heavy rain I stay in bed and play with momma.<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

RE: Deer and rain?
Deer generaly bed down during heavy rain.
Light rain has little effect on them, if anything they move more.
The best time to hunt is either right after a heavy rain has ended or a heavy rain has slowed considerably.
