RE: Tough on the emotions
Great thread. Thanks everyone for posting.
I find that hunting is emotional and that its what makes it such an intense
thing. Its a first hand experiencewhether it goes wrong or just hits us with somethingwhen we are not quite ready for it. As for me I still hear a hare screaming in agonythat reminds me of my limits.

Fellows it happens all the time. It has never happened to me but ive seen it from someone in my family a long time ago. The best thing to do i think if your gonna late season doe hunt kill the small does Just be sure its not a button buck. Its always good eating and you will never find an embryo in them.

You cannot be worried about it, and while its good that you are concerned - you should not feel sad. I'm glad to read about "respectful" hunters - its nice to know that many of us are.
From a management standpoint - you did a great job. Your state allows a late season - to help reduce the deer population. You fullfilled your obligation to your deer herd,by helping keep the deer population in balance. Of course you know that hunting is all about life and death - well so is deer management.

man i would love to be able to get that close to a deer when im not huntin. how did you get them to trust you? did you just walk up there while they were feedin? or did you wait on them? i just cant figure out how they would come that close to anybody. thats really cool.
