RE: Alright, Let's hear about the Xmas presents!
A Remington Model 700 ADL in .30-06 with a synthetic stock. I bought this at an opening of a BassPro Shop in late November, and my wife declared this to be my Christmas present. I also went duck hunting for the first time on Christmas Eve day and bagged two Lesser Scaupe.
I gave my 9 year old daughter a Daisy Buck BB gun. She is very enthousiastic about shooting this gun and is looking forward to progressing to .22 rifle, squirrel hunting, and ultimately deer hunting in the future at the appropriate time. This interest has materialized since my deer hunt in November when she joined my son and I. She watched me skin and quarter the doe I took and was very interested in that process and not grossed out -- surprising. I tagged out on the second day of the hunt and thereafter took her with me out to the hunting ground in the afternoon when I took my son out to hunt (she did not wake at 4:30 AM and arrive at the hunting site at 5:45 AM in the morning as my son and I did on these days but rather chose to sleep in). She and I would walk around in the woods away from where my son was hunting. We would just enjoy the outdoors and walking, and sometimes I would tell her stuff about deer -- here are some persimmons -- deer love persimmons; here is some deer poop -- look, there are persimmon seeds in the deer poop; stuff like this. Now, my 13 year old daughter likes to eat venison but has no interest in guns or hunting herself.
