Son's first deer
My son (14) got his first deer on the first day out of his 4th season of hunting. He was in the treestand and I was about 150 yards away at the edge of the woods in a pop-up blind. Getting my first deer doesn't even compare to being there when he got his first. For the record, he was using my Remington 710 .30-06 with Remington Managed Recoil ammo (been using this so my 12-year-old daughter could also shoot my rifle). He missed the first shot but was fortunate the deer just ran about 50 yards before stopping and then he put him down with the second. It's a good sized buck for the cotton fields which surround the woods where we hunt. It's an 8-point with decent mass to the antlers.
Unfortunately, he now possesses the "family record" and is not ashamed to let me know it. The buck is at the taxidermist now and we should get it back some time in the summer.

That's awesome. My son is 16 and still trying...well, sometimes when I can pull him away from other activities. Congratulations to your son...and you for bringing him up to continue this wonderful way of life.
