I love it when your out out in the woods and it starts snowing. At that point I try to find a nice pine tree or some laurel bushes to use as a canopy.

Early morning just beforesunrise is thefavorite time for me. The woods are usually very quiet. When the sun starts to rise the woods come alive.
Birds are usually the first noise makers. The anticipation now keeps me very alert. When the squirrelsstart to chatter that can mean something is moving in the woods. The rest is another story!!

My favorite time is about an hour before sunrise. I hunt in a very active area for wildlife so I hear all the hoots from owls and screams from bobcats. I love just sittin' in my stand listening to it though.

I love the early morning - about an hour before shooting light. A few years back we had a meteor showerthat was peaking over the opening weekend in WI. There is nothing like sitting in a standwith crystal clear skies and seeing some of the brightest shooting stars imaginable.

Opening morning of rifle season, in the stand and fully ready at least a half hour before you can even see anything, with little or no wind and frozen, crunchy leaves so you can hear 'em a mile away! Nothing like hearing 'em come as light begins to reveal your surroundings.

Where I have been hunting in Florida ,is quite nerve wracking walking in. So I have to say right after I get into my stand. Then I'm off the snake infested floor of the swamp. I always keep a list of birds I see and here and share the info on another birding forum. I usually hear about 10 birds before dawn settles in. The Eastern Screech Owl is always a treat.
