LEADING A RUNNING DEER....POLL
How far in front of the deer would you lead (shooting with a 12 ga slug)a runner, at mid stirde, when its 100 - 125 yards in front of you running from right to left?

I would have to be in the situation to ultimately decide, but I would try to stop him or watch when he did. You didn't take alot of things into consideration...wind, terrain, other hunters. I normally wouldn't take a shot like this.

Should never try that shot. Even if you hit it your just as likely to hit it in the hams or gut. If you can't get a better shot than that then the deer wins on that day.

While I have killed several game animals on the run with a high powered rifle,I would not attempt it at 100 yards with a shotgun or muzzle loader.

i'm not sure i would feel too comfortable with a moving shot with a sluggun unless it's close. with a high powered rifle on the other hand i would hold just a little ahead of it.
