RE: 150g vs 170g 30-30 performance on deer
my dad owns a winchester 94 ranger. he uses 175 grain winchester's. they work great on deer. they open up good, and they put a nice hole in things, for a good blood trail. it all depends on what ur gun shoots better though. buy a buch of differnet bullets and try them out, then id decide.

If your gun will shoot the 170 grain bullets well then that is what I would recommend. You can never really go wrong when shooting the heavier bullet. You end up with more knockdown power, and deeper penetration.
