timber is right. That .243 would make an excellent deer gun (i've shot dozens with a 6mm (almost identical in ballistics)) get that thing rockin and rollin' with some good glass and lots of practice. It will also make a nice coyote and 'lope gun (at medium ranges). It may be a little soft on pigs depending on the size of the pig. .308 is also a fine round and is generally accepted for all north american game (except griz).
