SPENDING THE NIGHT IN THE WOODS

RE: SPENDING THE NIGHT IN THE WOODS
In FL. only on private property can you spend the night in the woods.
On WMA you have to get a pass 1/2 hr before sunrisein the morning
and return it 1/2hr after sunset and go to the public camp.
Many are NO CAMPING at all. You either have a travel trailer on
a trailer camp ground or stay in a motel.

I would think it would make for an interesting evening. I would try it if I had a chance and I don’t think the boogie man would bother me but the sasquatch. Now that’s a different story

I'll be on the mountain alone for a week this season. My son and I will pack in on the Friday before. He has to work Monday so will pack out and work the week. Pack back in the following Fri. night. I'm really looking forward to it. Done it before in uniform (Navy MIUW) and out of uniform (now). Getting tougher for me though, I'm pushin' 60.

When we were kids in Boy Scouts we used to go down to a place called Fouke, AR. In the early 70's there was supposedly a bigfoot creature called the "Fouke Monster" running around the Sulphur River bottoms there. They even made a movie about it. For a 15 year old kid it was kinda exciting, camping out and looking for it.

I slept in the back of my pickup about a dozen times last year during archery deer season. It's not bad but during the warm weather you will be amazed at how noisy the woods really are. By woods I don't mean a traditional campground. Those aren't woods. If you use a primitive campsite without a fire you can really put the sneak in on a lot of animals.

I don't currently do it for the fact that I also hunt mostly state game land and in early December/January I like to stay warm when sleeping. If I were to have the opportunity I think I would want to set up camp a little ways off from where I planned to hunt.
