Default First Kiss

Casey boy has a "girlfriend" staying in his kennel for a few days. Here's a pic of their first kiss. (Casey boy is the Fox Red Yellow). Both dogs are OFAd and CERFd. If the breeding is successful, there should be puppies on the ground in early February, which would make them ready to go to new homes in late March.

Ah yes, I remember my first kiss, in fact, she looked a lot like Caseys' girlfriend.

I don't know much about the paper work, or what Ofad or CERFd means I assume it means they are papered. I love labs and my hunting lab is 14 1/2 years old now and dying or should I say suffering. We are keeping him until after the holidays. But then we need to put him down.[X(][:@] Anyway we want to get a new lab pup for the kids, and I want a waterfowl hunting partner again. Are you going to sell the pups if so how much?
We (my wife and I) were wanting to find a pup about that time. Where in WA do you live? Thanks Idahoelkinstructor, Jason Liebe

Jason,
First, I'm very sorry to hear about your current buddy. Even if they live a full life, it's still too short even at 14+ years.
OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) certifies (via X-rays) the Genetic Health of a dog's hips and elbows (reduces the risk of hip dysplasia and elbow dysplasia). CERF (Canine Eye Registration Foundation) certifies the genetic health of a dog's eyes. Dogs can pass on 33 different eye defects -- CERF shows that the parents eyes are "genetically clean".

The owner of the female will be selling the pups -- my Casey boy was just the stud dog. I live in Colville (N. of Spokane) as does the female. When the pups are born, I'll post about it (with some pics) -- at that time, if you're still interested, I'll put you in touch with the owner of the litter.

Casey is a Certified Pointing Lab. Lily isn't Certified on the pointing part, but she does also point, so the odds are that 75% (minimum) of the pups will also point.

Because of Casey's titles -- and the fact that both dogs are "genetically clean", my guess (only a guess, because it's up to the owner of the female) that the pups will probably sell for about $600.

We got Casey primarily as a Hunting Companion, but by running him in Tests, he thinks he gets to hunt almost all year. Hunt Tests and Field Tests are a great way to see your weak points in training as well.

Here's a pic I took of Casey last June (he has more ribbons now, but this is what he had 6 months ago). These ribbons and titles are from Hunting Retriever Hunt Tests and Field Tests (not the 'show dog' stuff).

Wayne 1 ----- You've got mail (I just emailed ya).

Here's (in essence) what I emailed to Wayne 1 :

(as Wayne knows) -- Casey is a fairly decent dog. He got his first title at 16 months of age. He is primarily our hunting dog, but I run him in competitions (so that he can "hunt" almost year around). Casey is a Certified Pointing Labrador. Lily has never been run in any competitions, but considering that I've been involved in Labradors for over 30 years, I can "read dogs" fairly well, and Lily definitely has what it takes to make some great pups. Lily only has one Pointing Lab in her pedigree (Great-Grandfather, who also had a Master Hunter (MH) title), but Lily is a natural Pointing Labrador. She has the intelligence to be a great dog. In the last year, I have turned down 3 offers to have Casey bred to other females, and for vatious reasons, I have turned them all down -- this means that I'm extremely picky about what kind of female that I will consider breeding Casey to.

Because Casey is a Certified Pointing Lab, + the fact that Lily points means that at least 75% of the pups will Point.

The owners of the female won't know for sure if the breeding was successful for another 3 weeks -- as soon as I know for sure, I'll post about it.

In a "normal" Labrador market, these pups would be worth $750 to $800, but because there is a glut of good Labs on the market, I'm guessing (it's up to the owners of the female) that they are going to sell the pups for about $600 (GREAT price).

If anyone is interested in getting one of these pups, you'll need to wait until we find out for sure if the breeding was successful -- as soon as I find out, I will put the owners of the female (and pups) in contact with you -- all you need to do is email me at [email protected] and I'll put you on the list of people who they (owners of Lily) need to contact. PLEASE remember that "pick of the litter order" is decided by the order of people "on the list" of prospective buyers.
