RE: Colorado Elk areas's
going my 3rd year to colorado elk hunting....this year i wont be taking my bow because i drew a muzzleloader bull tag...sept 11 - 19. we see plenty of elk there
my advise to you is to do what i did to find a good area. I went to big game cd this cd is put out by the Dow and has over 2500 maps (BLM,Land Use,Herd Pop...ETC) also harvest records and pressure
This is a very good tool used for scouting and worth checking out

Also go to the Colorado DOW website and look in the Hunting pages for their GMU maps, they have overlays for every region that shows elk summer and winter population locations. It's all FREE. Also, my wife and I have bull tags for unit 86 1st rifle, Oct 9-13, and need a partner if anyone has similar tags. Also unit 45 and unit 71 are good for elk as is 551. There are a lot of other good ones depending on where you want to hunt. The DOW website is the best FREE resource for info. There are so many pages there to help you out its unbelievable the amt of info they post. Come on let's hunt... http://wildlife.state.co.us/hunt/
