Smacked a 4x4 mulie
Yep, smacked a 18 inch wide 4x4 sunday morning, was there at first light and was glassing the sage brush and saw 2 bucks about 450 yards away but there was a stiff cross wind and they bedded down and we slide down on our butts to the bottom of the hill and i snuck within 25 yards and shot him in his bed. Hes not super huge but Hes my best mulie ive ever taken. Pics to follow when i get the film developed.

congrats, elk season didn' t pan out that well for me in the nile unit.
I guess I should have found those clear cuts before opening day. I saw 5 elk not 300 yards from my camp and figured we would just hunt from camp on opening day. They were nowhere to be seen opening morning.
What a drag for me but congrats to you and your mulie.
I have a late muzzle loader deer tag. Thoughts on where to fill it?
Thanks
Dave

Sorry to hear about your hunt. If you camped on 1791, there are lots of elk in that area, but all vanish comes opening day. But with a cow tag, you should be able to find one.
For your late deer, depends on where you want to go and if you just want meet in the freezer. I would suggest 501, 666, 651, or 633 as you can take any deer. I don' t know much about these areas. I' ve been to 501 a few times.

Nice buck, kirkl! That' s a good rack by any standards. And you worked for it, not drove past it, and came back for the shot.
Yajsab, I' m looking at a late ML deer hunt in 666. Do you know anything about the unit? I' ve hunted it along the south end of Ft. Lewis, but gave up after competing with dog trainers, bird hunters, and troop maneuvers. Any info about other spots to hunt in the unit would be much appreciated. Just shoot me an e-mail if you would. Thanks.
