Default RE: Hunters, what mistakes have cost you a shot at game?

My main mistakes occur prior to taking a shot, and usually stem from a lack of patience. The last stalk, I was pursuing a nice 4x4 buck with bow in hand. I was watching the dandy buck 500yds away, and saw him enter some thick cover. My plan was to stalk to the cover, and wait for him to get up from his afternoon nap. Well, I get to the area and start to see big tracks leaving the area. Thoughts overwhelmed me and I decided to begin walking through the thick cover. Why? I don' t know. From just 10yds away the 4x4, a nice forkhorn, and a spike all bolt from the bushes and head into the next time zone. I guess this is just the hard way of learning to be patient.
