Colorado units 3/301
I am going to be hunting units 3 and 301 for the first combined season (10/18-10/26) for elk and deer. Specifically the Maybell area. I am relatively new to colorado and will be going up with some friends. Any tips or any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have a license for elk and deer, what type of load would you use in a Winchester Model 70 30-06? Is there one that can be used for both Deer and Elk? Thanks for any tips or advice you can give me!

RE: Colorado units 3/301
I' d suggest a 180g bullet in a premium cartridge. Keep it simple and use the same load on either deer or elk. The Hornady Light Magnums are highly recommended, but I load my own so I haven' t shot them. You can get a number of premium bullets in factroy loads now, so try a few to find what shoots best in your rifle. That testing can get a bit expensive, but the practice is very worthwhile. Be sure to end up sighted in at least 2.5" high at 100 yds. for max. range. If you have more questions, you can email me at [email protected] and I' ll give you my phone number.
