Here in the Northeast corner of WA, it' s been nasty hot and dry for over a month and a half. For those of you planning to come to this area to hunt Grouse, Bear, Deer, I have seen signs now being posted banning the use of chainsaws and open fires, and smoking in the woods.
Hot + Dry = Not good, not good at all.

This is starting to remind me of the summer of ' 88 when they opened hunting season like three weeks later, and that was rifle season, feel bad for the Archers because it don' t look like they' ll have the woods open come Sept if there are any left over after the fires. RAIN please I have an Elk hunt in MT. in Sept and it' s starting to make me nervous[&o]

91 was not agood one either. That was the year that the hills in Oakland went up,then soon after (in October)wildfires broke out near Spokane with Wa. state soon after closing all state land.
Back then it depended where you hunted-when your elk season started, and the colockum season was extended by 2-3 days. My buddies and I went over on time to USFS land near Blewett since thier land was not closed. On the second day they opened state land, so we had a mad rush to get to our usual camp in the colokum wildlife Rec. area.
Now for the present. that looked like one hell of a thunderstorm that developed over the north cascades yesterday.Weather service counted 29 lightning stikes-hope we didn' t get too many new ignitions (1 is too many, but that would be asking too much)since this storm developed in the same area as Farewell creek.
Hopefully north central Wa. got some precip. with this, but once again, that is probably asking too much-hey guys over there did you get any rain? Still praying for rain, doin' the raindance! S daWg

Here in Boise we have had 17 days already over 100 in July, over 108 twice and 106 once, will be 100 again today, 14 days over 100 in a row at one point.
Getting really old, the woods are getting very dry looks like we are going to have a tough fire season with some large ones already in action.
