Need Western Colorado Info!
Finally! After 14 yeas of rejection, I' ve drawn an elk tag for the early rifle hunt in GMU 201 in Northwestern Colorado. Although I' ve hunted elk in Colorado in the 1980' s, I' ve never been to the extreme NW part of Colorado. I' ve got a lot of research to do, but I' d like to start with any information that you think might help me. What is the terrain like? Elevation? Is camping allowed on public land? Are there any outfitters that you know of who are licensed to provide us (3 of us) a drop camp in GMU 201? Any information that can get me started in the right direction would be appreciated! Thanks!

You should have no problem with camping, lots of public land around the area. I haven' t been quite that far, have hunted 2,3,10 & 11. Terrain should be fairly steep hills (mountains depending on your definition of a hill! , sagebrush flats and fairly thick cedar/pinyon forest. I am not exactly sure of the elevation, between 5k and 10k, mostly about 5-7 imo
