Default Co update...

For all of you archery hunters. It has been hot, real hot and almost a few moon. This has not given the best hunting conditions. I have not heard any one doing well and the rut is not even close. Good luck to you all.

I was just in southern WY and the elk are starting to rut. Some of the smaller bulls were not doing much but I came across a very large bull with about 25 cows/calfs that was screaming his lungs out. I couldn't get him away from those cows though.

The bright moon didn't do us any good though. Hopefully this week will be a little better.

I was up this past weekend and we are hearing bugling now. Mostly mornings and right at last light. No one has sealed the deal yet, but by next weekend, they should be wound up good. Wish it would cool down though, that would help, a lot!

I connected on a deer but was unable to find it after a 2.5 hour search in the dark. Had good blood but the trail ran out and we found ourselvs lost. I'm pissed...

They are just now starting to bugle in the north San Juans. The first week of archery season there was numerous hunters that put the in the trees for almost the rest of the season. But if your hunting this weekend you should have better luck. Congrats on your friends bull.

My son and I are heading for area 62 this weekend Oct 10. Its his first year and we drew one of the best areas which is great. We have spent every weekend since June scouting the area and getting to know the terrain.

Today we finished meal prep and checking all our gear. Now we just hope to see some Bulls if not I hope my son has a good time and enjoys the trip.
