Default Outlook for D3-5 and D6 in Northern CA.

Anyone hunt these zones up in the Sierras and have an opinion as to the deer herds for '09. Given the choice between these two zones which one has better opporunity? Notice any trend here in the last several years? Just curious.

Default D6 zone

I've hunted the D6 zone for many years, however the past two years I've tried my luck farther north. While there're are still plenty of deer in D6, finding them has gotten much harder to do. Most of the public accessable land is at the higher elevations,(4500 ft) and above. This is not a problem early in the season when the temps are still high. Later on after some weather moves in finding huntable land becomes more difficult. A lot of the D6 area is popluar with hikers and other visitors, so finding deer here will cost you some shoe leather. Make sure you don't hunt alone and don't be afraid to do some walking.
