Donating antelope (meat) in WY?
I will be out in Wy (Newcastle area) hunting antelope with 3 hunting partners at the beginning of Oct. We are driving from MIand we are limited on space in our vehicle for coolers in addition to our other gear, so if all 4 of us each end up with an animal, we probably are not going to have the room to bring all of it back. We also don't want to waste the meat.I know there are methods to get the meat home via shipping butI was wondering if there are any donation programs or similar that exist in the Newcastle area that I could look into?
I know many states have wild game donation programs but I have not found a specific point of contact in WY.
Any suggestions or links would be great! Thanks!

Sounds to me like you need to scrap some of the other crap and put in another cooler. If you quarter them (with proof of sex!) they don't take up much space. You can fit 2 or 3 in a 100 quart cooler. No use bringingthe whole animal back. the neck has too much scinue? sp? and there ain't enough on the ribs to get wet let alone cook.I can tell you I would donate deer or elk before I donated our antelope... Way to fine of eat'n.

You'll probably need to contact a game processor. I'm assuming they'd know the rules - and I'm also assuming that in order to donate the meat, you'll have to first pay for it to be processed. It's not like you can drive up to the Department of Family Services office in Newcastle and drop off the carcass.
And, if you're going to have topay for processing, it makes more sense to dump some other stuff to make sure you have additional cooler space and just take it home.

I don't understand why you would want to donate the meat from any hunt. Even after driving across several states to hunt. A Speed Goat boned out will fit in any small cooler. Heck.
I took several hundred pounds of elk. Cut up by a butcher and on dry ice across several states and got it home.
To consume.

Drive with all of your gear. Shoot the antelope, get them processed, UPS the gear home, buy the coolers you need and take the meat home with you in the car, so you can check on it regularly.
