Went out yesterday here in Kansas and took most of a limit. Somewhat rusty..

Went to the high desert near Tucson, never saw a single dove, but I got one cottontail, 2 squirrels up in the pines, and a rainbow trout. I'll hit up my old favorites here in the desert flats this week. We've had a decent amount of rain lately, should be pretty good.

Must have got cold up further North. There are doves all over the place. We are taking limits or close to limits nightly.

Dove and wildrice... it's what's for dinner tonight...

Got one good day of dove hunting in. I was a little rusty, used 2 boxes of shells to get 10 birds and 2 rattlesnakes. When I shot the last bird I had one shell left. I finally got to introduce my wife and some people I work with (non hunters)to the delicacy of skewered dove breast with bacon. They were all pleasantly surprised. Chalk one more up for the pro-hunting crowd! I always make it a point that whenever I take wild game leftovers to work I have extra so I can pass it around a little and show people why it is that I love hunting and fishing so much. Can't wait for the second season to come around!!
