Looking for information on montana hunting
Was looking for help on a hunt for next year. Looked at montana fish & wildlife web page couldn't figure it out. If I was to come out there for archery season next year & hunt area 316 what lic. would I need and also I think that season starts sept. 15? Looking to hunt on private land a friend has a friend just want to get an early start. Also when would I need to apply for this lic. any help would be great. Oh yeah this is for a whitetail hunt. Thanks

RE: Looking for information on montana hunting
You have two options, well really three options.
1. Get your landowner to sign the paperwork for a landowner sponsored tag. You can only hunt on the landowners private deeded land. Your tag would be good for either whitetails or muleys
2. Apply for a deer combo license. This is a drawing and your chances of first drawing with not pointsis about 12%. Your tag would be good for any open general unit in the state and you can hunt whitetails or muleys.
3. Apply for a Deer/Elk combo. This is a drawing and you can draw without points but don't expect to. This license and tag will be good for any general unit for deer and you would get an elk tag as well.
You must apply by March 15th and you can do it on line.
