RE: washington bow hunters
I heard they were kickin' around the idea of charging a fee for a second weapon, if your tag wasn't filled with your initial choice. WA is the first state that I've hunted that has this goofey pick your weapon stuff. I'm pretty much a meat hunter - especially considering 1 deer limit here, but given the chance, I would pick up my bow again - and go after the [i]big buck[\i] and if I were unsuccessful, I would fill my freezer with the first 3X plus that I could during modern. In VA, you could get up to 7 deer a year hunting bow and gun, kind of miss those days. But I'd gladly give up the east coast to live here in God's Country anytime.

I bowhunt for elk, mostly; I have flip-flopped a bit with modern and muzzle as seasons/units have changed and as the mood strikes me.
I think the most interesting topic of late is the consideration by the WDFW to change the dates for early bow elk in WW. Ceck the website if you havn't seen the proposals. They might change to later in Sept., or go back to Oct. 1, or leave it as is.
What do you guys think?
I'm not crazy about Sept. 1 opener- esp. in fire danger years. But I know a lot of guys from WA who hunt the early season in Oregon which comes very close to coinciding with ours in WA. If they open ours later it will likely mean increased competition on our elk opener from WA hunters returning and OR guys, at least in SW.

WANWTF & Bullkllr,
Yeah I miss the East Coast Days of multiple deer & choice of weapons. But I'll trade it for a chance @ Elk. The later opener for elk will help during dry years like the past few maybe there will be more land open to hunt & more of a chance for snow/ weather to move the elk. Well I hope you all had a great season & best of luck next year.
There is NO such thing as a bad day HUNTING
Good Luck & Good Hunting
