Default New Mexico Elk

Anyone ever Elkhunt unit 2 in the Carson Nat. Park? I went last Sep. and planned my entire trip based on hunting water holes....well it rained all 6 days I was there, and with rain pooled up in the rim rock, I was out of luck. My question is, when this situation occurs, where do you guys/gals focus as far as hunting areas?

Well Ive hunted That Area a couple of times and you just have to stick with it.I took a cow two years ago off of a water hole, but i agree last year it rained alot. I ended up scouting out some more area and hunted where there wasnt any pressure on the elk and managed to call in a small bull on the last weekend of the hunt.It can be done just gotta try again.
